Grainau
Grainau is a picturesque village at the foot of the Zugspitze and is considered one of the most beautiful Alpine villages in Bavaria. Nestled between deep green forests, clear mountain lakes such as the Eibsee, and the imposing peaks of the Wetterstein Mountains, the village offers an impressive natural backdrop. Here, traditional Bavarian hospitality meets alpine adventure – perfect for hikers, mountaineers, and anyone looking for peace and quiet with a view. For many years, Grainau was also the start and finish of the Zugspitz Ultra Trail. With increasing numbers of participants, the small village reached its limits, but remained closely connected to the Zugspitz Ultra Trail as the starting point of the Grainau Trail.
