A fairer way to reach the ZUT start line
We are grateful to see your interest and strong connection to the event. Year after year, the number of runners who want to take part of the biggest german trail running event has grown.
We have listened to your feedback after the 2026 registration opening, and we are pleased to share Zugspitz Ultra Trail by UTMB will move to a lottery system for the 2027 edition, taking place from 17 to 20 June. The goal is simple: to make the registration process fairer, more transparent, and less stressful for every runner who dreams of taking the start in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
From 5 to 12 October, runners will be able to enter the lottery through the official ZUT website by logging in with their My UTMB account. Lottery results will be available on 14 October, with three possible outcomes: positive draw, waiting list, or negative draw. The 2027 event will take place from 17 to 20 June.
KEY DATES TO REMEMBER
- 5–12 October: enter the lottery
- 14 October: check your result in My UTMB
- 15–19 October: positive draw winners complete registration and payment.
- 21 October: Waiting list draw.
HOW THE WAITING LIST WORKS
If bibs are not claimed after the first draw, they will be released back into the system and drawn again among runners on the waiting list on 21 October.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SECOND DRAW?
Second draw winners will have from 22 to 26 October to complete registration and payment. If entries remain available after this period, they will open to general sale without the lottery process.
